InnoShiftIng provides the technology to enable next generation multispeed transmissions
When using a linear actuator, no mechanical transformation is necessary, this can reduce the time and energy needed for shifting. Furthermore, position-controlled operation of the actuator allows fast yet quiet and smooth engagement of the clutch. Further functionality can be integrated in the actuator, like passive and contactless rod locking.
An angular controlled engagement of dog clutches allows for jerk-free shifting. This requires fast and precise measurement of the angular position of the clutches, which can be done with multiple complex shaft-mounted sensors, as incremental encoders or resolvers. However, backlashes decrease the accuracy of the dog clutch angle calculations. Therefore, the use of a dedicated dog clutch differential angle sensor is more reliable, less expensive and easier to integrate into the transmission.
The control of the traction machine is crucial for comfortable and fast gear changes with active synchronization. This is especially true for angular position-controlled engagement of the dog clutches. The transmission control unit is essential to realize comfortable and fast gear changes with the shift actuator and dog clutches with various drivetrain topologies.
The goal of this project is to refine the differential angle sensor for dog clutches, based on the findings of a previous prototype. The resulting sensor can be manufactured using processes suitable for large-scale production. In addition, the feasibility of a sensor-integrated shifting fork made of plastic will be investigated.
Goal of this project is to increase driving comfort and with that, the customer acceptance of highly cost- and energy-efficient non-load-shiftable transmission with dog clutches in commercial and personal vehicles by developing a Predictive, Satellite positioning and navigation-based Transmission Control (PreSat-TC).
